Three-Dimensional Lower Extremity Joint Loading in a Carved Ski and Snowboard Turn: A Pilot Study
A large number of injuries to the lower extremity occur in skiing and snowboarding. Due to the difficulty of collecting 3D kinematic and kinetic data with high accuracy, a possible relationship between injury statistic and joint loading has not been studied. Therefore, the purpose of the current study was to compare ankle and knee joint loading at the steering leg between carved ski and snowboa...
متن کاملThe incongruous hip joint: a loading study.
Hip incongruency was studied by load-displacement and casting methods. Twenty-five joints were loaded in 5 different positions of the walking cycle. Seventeen of them had a space at the apex in all positions, while 3 were congruent at low loads, and the remaining 5 had femoral heads smaller than their acetabula. No trends with age were apparent.

syncope5 and suppuration in the groin after extra-vascular injection.6 The great danger, however, is that it is radioactive : ill results from this have been reported.9 Sodium iodide is likely to produce severe reactions and much pain, but it is still used for the aorta.10, 11 Organic iodides are the substances now usually employed. The most favoured is diodone (diodrast, Pyelosil). It is prepa...
متن کاملEffect of a professional soccer match in skin temperature of the lower limbs: a case study
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between lower limbs skin temperature (Tsk) recorded by infrared thermography and creatine kinase (CK) response following an official soccer game. A professional soccer player, from the first division Brazilian League, defender, 27 years and 183 cm of height was analyzed. Measures of Tsk with a thermal camera and blood CK concentrations we...
متن کاملPeripheral muscle dysfunction in COPD: lower limbs versus upper limbs.
In patients with COPD, the degree of functional impairment appears to differ between the upper and lower limbs. Significant dyspnea and fatigue have been reported by these patients when performing tasks with unsupported upper limbs and two mechanisms have been proposed to explain this fact: neuromechanical dysfunction of respiratory muscles; and changes in lung volume during such activities. Th...
